learning platform the international agency for research on cancer (iarc) has launched the biobank learning platform, a freely accessible resource that provides learning and training material for professionals involved in biobank-based research in low- and middle-income countries (lmics). the biobank learning platform includes more than 80 learning resources tailored to help specialists contribute to efficient and impactful analysis. topics covered include biobanking infrastructure, collection and management of samples and data, and bioinformatics. the only resource of its kind, the biobank learning platform was developed by the education and training group and the laboratory services and biobank group at iarc as part of the bridging biobanking and biomedical research across for cancer registry development (gicr), the international agency for research on cancer together with the korean national cancer center (ncc) and its graduate school of cancer science and policy (gscsp) are pleased to announce the inaugural iarc-korean ncc joint summer school on “ cancer registration: principles and methods” on 8-12 july 2019 in goyang, republic of korea. the course will focus on fundamentals of planning and developing population-based cancer registries and is targeting participants from south, south-east and east asia. for more information visit iarc international practical course “metabolomics bioinformatics in human health” will be held in the international agency for research on cancer on 16-20 september 2019. this five-day course combining lectures from experts, computer-based practical sessions and interactive discussions will provide an advanced overview with hands-on practical on key issues and challenges in metabolomics, handling datasets and form. who/euro-iarc workshop “implementation of cancer screening programmes” ( 16-17 january 2019 ) in iarc (lyon, france) is gathering professionals involved in decision making related to cancer screening at national or regional levels from cis and eastern european countries. the workshop is the first of a series lead by the who regional office for europe and addressing screening for ncds and it aims to understand cancer screening principles, the harms and benefits of cancer screening and quality assurance within cancer screening programmes and to discuss political decision-making related applications for the iarc summer school 2019 is open until 15 january 2019 – 29/11/2018 iarc summer school – 17 june-5 july 2019 three modules are offered this year: a two-week module “introduction to cancer epidemiology” will be held on 17-28 june, followed by two modules “gicr net master class: analysis of population-based cancer registry data” and “implementing cancer prevention and early for applications for the following fellowships 2019-2020 is closed – 03/12/2018 iarc postdoctoral fellowships for more than 50 years, the iarc fellowship programme has trained 626 rigorously selected early career scientists from over 82 countries. since 2005, iarc postdoctoral fellowships have been uniquely tenable at the agency. for this call, only early career scientists from low- and application deadline: 30 november 2018 via our online application form. new training course opportunity, iarc, lyon, france – 02/02/2018 the international agency for research on cancer (iarc) is organizing a training course “statistical practice in epidemiology using r” on 14-20 june 2018. this 6-day course is targeting epidemiologists and statisticians willing to use r for statistical modelling and analysis of epidemiological data. the course requires basic knowledge of epidemiological concepts and study types for applying. there will only be briefly reviewed, whereas the more advanced epidemiological and statistical concepts will be treated in depth. attention: the deadline for application is now extended to 8 april 2018 . more information on the event, the application
